Seventeen seasons later, turtle racing is still the heartbeat of Thursday nights, drawing crowds of regulars, first-timers, and curious spectators ready to cheer on their favorite shelled athletes. Since its launch in Midtown, the races have grown into a full-blown spectacle—equal parts competition, comedy, and community. Fans pick their turtles and root them on from the sidelines with a drink in hand, proving that slow and steady really does win the party.

Where it all began. Little Woodrow’s Midtown is home to the very first Turtle Racing arena — and 17 seasons later, it’s still one of Houston’s wildest weekly traditions. Season 9

It’s Season 5 in the 806, and the slowest show in Texas just keeps picking up speed. Little Woodrow’s Lubbock brings the rowdy crowd, the cold drinks, and the occasional Texas Tech-themed races that turn the patio into full-blown game-day chaos. Races kick off after Thursday Night Football with Red Raider Buckets flowing and fans cheering on their favorite shelled speedsters. Season 3

South Austin’s favorite slow-motion spectacle is back for Season 3! Catch the races on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month, where the beers are cold, the crowd’s loud, and the turtles take their sweet time. Each race night brings laughs, friendly bets, and plenty of patio chaos — all fueled by good vibes and great drinks. So grab your crew, pick your turtle, and see who crawls their way to glory. Get in the bleachers! Find your spot in the bleachers and get ready to cheer! The race is about to start, and your turtle needs all the support it can get.
